Your Presence is Enough ~ Giving the Gift of Your Self in Conversation

Your Presence is Enough ~ Giving the Gift of Your Self in Conversation

When I teach listening skills, my participants struggle with simply being still and present when someone else is sharing something personal with them. It is not enough, in their mind, just to be with them. They must at least nod, or verbally acknowledge the other person in some way, and make them feel that they are being attended to. We must do in conversation, not just be in conversation! This need stems from a deep and old belief that who we are being is not enough. Our presence, and the gift of our spirit, is simply not enough! When we realize how powerful we are, we don’t doubt the gift of our presence. By resting more fully into our deeper Self, we can rest more fully in the conversation. Spaciousness is created […]

Claiming Your Creativity ~ 5 Actions & Mindsets for the Creative Path

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.” ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe One of the common ways we […]

Asking for Help ~ A Wonderful Way to Give

Asking for Help ~ A Wonderful Way to Give

What if asking for help is an act of giving? It is one of the hardest things to do it seems. In asking for help we are afraid that we might be burdening others, or that our wish will go unanswered leaving us feeling disappointed…again. Or maybe we feel that if we ask for help we will be judged as incompetent, giving our boss reason to not grant us that raise. Or perhaps we don’t want to feel vulnerable, and admit to ourselves that maybe we don’t have all the answers and can’t do it alone. It also doesn’t help when we live in a society that says giving is better than receiving, putting ourselves first is bad or selfish, and we must be strong. […]

The Call of The Butterfly ~ Answering the Call of the Awakened Heart

“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.” ~ Richard Bach There may come a time when you feel the call to become something more than you’ve always been; a call to let go of one way of living, without being clear of exactly where you are going. All you know is that you can no longer stay where you are. This is the call of the butterfly. Life only really begins when you answer this call. It is you saying Yes to your soul, and Yes to soul-full living. It is the courageous beginning of a journey away from what no longer feeds your soul, towards a life that allows you to express yourself more fully and authentically. Answering the call awakens […]

Let It Play Itself Out

Let It Play Itself Out

Work It Out or Let It Play Itself Out? Life is about balance. There is a time to speak and a time to listen. A time to move and a time to rest. And there is a time to work something out in our mind, or let it play itself out. Generally as a society we are better at the former. Recently I could not solve a bookkeeping challenge. I let it go, sat on my bed, meditated and out of nowhere the solution spontaneously arose. Also recently, my web designer said she needed my images to be three times as large. The next day I got a call from a desktop publishing company telling me that they now sell a photo enhancement software. It […]

Stepping Forward

“Argue for your limitations, and sure enough they’re yours.” ~ Richard Bach. It’s normal and quite easy to delay stepping into our goals and dreams. After all, it’s quite comfy over here. It’s familiar territory and I don’t have to think much. And I absolutely will take on this new goal/dream of mine once I have… more education more money more information more time cleared the slate Is it the truth? Do you really need to wait any longer? “When you stand in your truth, the universe moves to support you.” ~ Lynda Austin A friend of mine followed her dream and became a life coach despite having no money. She paid the registration fee entirely on credit. Not long after registering, she received a letter […]

Fool’s Wisdom

“The moment you start seeing life as non-serious, a playfulness, all the burden on your heart disappears. All the fear of death, of life, of love – everything disappears. One starts living with a very light weight or almost no weight. So weightless one becomes, one can fly in the open sky.” ~ Osho. Yesterday may have been April Fools’ Day, but every day is an opportunity to heed the wisdom of your inner Fool. Your inner Fool has much to share. Are you listening? The Fool is the archetypal energy of the inner child. Through innocence and trust, it follows its heart, steps into the unfamiliar and plays outside the lines. It has no interest in being bound by social convention and expectations. It wants […]

Three Stages of Transformation & Transition

Three Stages of Transformation & Transition

When the heart awakens there is an immediate calling for change in your life. The seed of awareness and possibility has awoken within you, stirring a deep desire to search for a renewed sense of Self and life, and to follow a path of purposeful and authentic living. The awakened heart sparks change in three general stages that reflect the inner transformation and outer transition necessary to awaken the butterfly within. Much like a flower’s incremental unfolding into the light, people move through these stages gradually. Notice how many times you have gone through them in your own life. 1. Answering the Call In answering the call you embark on a new phase of your journey. The essence of this stage is saying Yes to […]

Why Wait? Now’s the Time! ~ 7 Blocks & Tips to Ending Procrastination & Making Empowering Life Choices

“A year from now you may wish you had started today.” ~Karen Lamb It is natural to procrastinate even though we know in our heart that there is no reason to wait. We grant more power to our limiting stories than to the part of us that simply says It’s time. I am guessing every person reading this has a decision they have been hemming and hawing on. Perhaps it is leaving a job or relationship, expressing your feelings or concerns, starting a creative project, moving to a new location, or starting a new career path. The decision may be small or perhaps it is large. And maybe it is a small decision but it feels large. Small or large we face these decisions regularly, […]

Don’t Decide, Discover ~ 4 Steps for Spontaneous Living

“Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what next or how. The moment you know how, you begin to die a little. The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark.” ~ Agnes de Mille. “Don’t Decide, Discover” were the words repeatedly spoken by international dance teacher and choreographer, Margie Gillis, at her Dancing from the Inside Out workshop I just took at Hollyhock. Her point was that we must learn to allow the body to show the way instead of the mind; to allow its inner wisdom to move us versus making a mental decision that then drives the body forward. Like the universal body of Life, the physical body […]
