Spider has a unique and needed medicine and message, especially for the busy and ambitious West. For those who struggle trusting their creative heart, who default to force and control, while having little faith in the orchestrating intelligence of Source and that it’s safe to rest and receive, the brilliantly dexterous and patiently still Spider shows another way.
What I love about beloved Spider is that it creates its sublime geometric web from the inside out. Quite literally, it is an extension of its body — a creative outpouring, a miraculous outflow of symmetry. I like to think of it as its temple or shrine, with the centre being the heart. There it rests, its feeling, extending gossamer body reaching out in all directions, poised and ready for a vibratory announcement!
Much like how every molecule in a pond senses the exact moment a small pebble drops in, the sensitive Spider knows with absolute immediacy the slightest movement of its gossamer threads. Perhaps it’s a breeze, a leaf — perhaps a fly! At one with its refined, geometric body, it feels the reverberation of truth that something has arrived.
The empowering message of Spider is that we, too, have a web to cast into the world. We have a dreamcatcher of sorts to catch the dreams of our heart, a destined web woven into the feeling, vibratory nature of our soul. Spider says that if we weave our web with as much beauty and care as it does, and if we have patient faith in its attracting power while trusting the reverberations in our heart, life will bring us what we long for. Someone will be drawn to our creative offering, a web they’re soulfully searching for.
Much of Spider’s message and medicine lies in the power of rest and stillness. You may remember a time when you finally let go and stopped trying so hard, and then suddenly what you were looking for came to you. That’s life’s way of reminding you that there is power in emptying, in relaxing, in doing absolutely nothing, in entering the still space of no-thing. It’s life’s way of reminding you that there are much greater forces at play orchestrating things, and that you, ultimately, are not in control.
I’m reminded of the words of the great Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu: “To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.” He also wrote, “Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.”
Disconnected from the natural Order of Things, and the flow of life, we have become lost in excessive drive and control. We’ve lost ourselves to the material, phenomenal plane, and forgotten that we are not separate, but One with Life. In this ceremony, Spider’s shamanic medicine brings you deeper into a primal remembrance of how woven you are into the Greater Web.
