Thoughts You Can’t Control — How Much Power Do They Have to Create Your Reality?
If you read enough spiritual / new age literature, you will likely know the common teaching that thoughts create your reality. That we live in a cause-and-affect Universe and each thought has the creative power to bring you an experience, sometimes one that may not manifest for a good while, maybe not until your next incarnation. And that we are, therefore, responsible for all our thoughts — each one of them! I’ve sat with this in my meditation quite a bit, troubled by it, questioning its veracity, praying for clarity, wondering about all the people who are ridden with uncontrollable, often trauma-based thinking. Something didn’t feel quite right. Could it really be that black and white? Was there some nuance missing? There had to be. […]
The Body is the Speaker, The Soul is the Music ~ The Subtle Journey of Embodying and Broadcasting Your Power
The body is the holder of frequency. And the frequency depends on how much trauma and programming is stored in the neurobiology and how anchored the soul, or higher self, is into the DNA. The soul longs to use the body as its tool for broadcast — to express its gifts and purpose through, held in the soul’s consciousness, as accumulated through many incarnations. For me, that broadcast is my gift of transmitting starlight to heal and empower. How powerfully I do that depends on the frequency I hold at my cellular level. As I embody my soul power more, that frequency increases and my broadcast becomes that much stronger. Though there may be exceptions, the soul generally doesn’t override the body. It doesn’t push […]
The Courage to Break Free from Worry
“Here is a new spiritual practice for you: don’t take your thoughts so seriously.” ~ Eckhart Tolle It takes courage to break free from worry. This may sound strange, but there is comfort in the fears that underly our mental fretting and catastrophizing. They are familiar, more familiar than we know, and they buffer us in insidious ways. For these reasons and more, we easily get stuck in fear and thus in worry. Many don’t associate worry with fear. They spend their minutes, hours and days worrying, often believing it’s a feeling—“I feel worried”—without considering that worry, like planning and analysis, is a state of mind. The thinking kind of mind. Fear, however, is clearly an emotion, and it’s the primary and primal one giving […]
More Than Feeling, Healing Demands Courageous Questioning and Acting
“We live in times when the call to full and critically aware citizenship could not be more urgent. We need to rediscover the careless courage, yet devastating simplicity, of the little boy who, in the middle of the numbed multitude, in naïve Socratic fashion, blurts out: ‘But the emperor has no clothes.’ When spoken, the word of truth can bring down citadels of falsity.” ~ John O’Donohue, To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Blessings Healing is more than uncovering and feeling old pains lost in our bodies. Healing demands something else, something that can take even more courage: Questioning and acting… Questioning that invites us to brave the unknown. Questioning the old, entrenched, outdated agreements we’ve made with others, and ourselves. Ones […]
