Creating Emotional Impact

Creating Emotional Impact

“A smile sent, will always return.” ~ Indian Proverb.

What is your favorite movie of all time? Take a moment to think about this… The reason you chose this movie is not because of the facts it provided or its special effects, but because it had an emotional impact on you.

It is the feelings we evoke in others that have a true, lasting impact. A feeling of inspiration, connection or fun create an inner resonance, memory and desire for more.

And yet when we create projects, events or meetings, do we consider the emotional impact we want to have on the attendees / participants? Someone recently told me that the events that had the best turnouts and feedback were the ones where emotional impact was considered.

The leaders of tomorrow are the ones who will create “state changes”.  Meaning, they will create a positive shift in how we feel.

Start with emotional impact. The next time you create a project/ event / meeting, ask yourself first, What is the emotional impact I want to have? How do I want people to feel? Let the answer to this question inform the structure or practical details of the event. For instance if you want people to feel welcome, you may want to have someone at the door greet them with a smile as they walk in.

Remember the human being in what you do. If we consider that we are human beings first, humans that are essentially driven by feelings, we will make the feelings of others a priority in our planning and programming, and create more positive experiences and success for everyone.

Have a Playful Monday!
