“I tried to teach my child with books,
he gave me only puzzled looks.
I tried to teach my child with words,

‘How shall I teach this child,’ I cried?
Into my hand he put the key,
‘Come,’ he said, ‘play with me.’”

  3. Wonderful post! I am the mother of two sons and taught English to teenage students for years. The easiest and best learning they ever experienced was that which I was able to make into a game of some sort for them. They both enjoyed the learning experience and retained the information much better this way.

    • Thanks Dinah for sharing that teaching wisdom! I agree with making learning experiential and embodied through the language, power and simplicity of play, rather than limiting teaching/learning to rote mentation. It’s also more fun for the teacher! Blessings!
